Whether you are sharing life with us locally in Ann Arbor, Michigan -  the best college town ever- or you are joining us from somewhere across the country or world, we are grateful to have you as a part of our Rootlike Faith family!

We’ve had the joy of serving in pastoral ministry within the local church for nearly twenty-five years. Wev’ve created two online communities to teach and inspire families. We’ve also had the privilege of writing a handful of devotionals and books along the way. And now, Rootlike faith.  

Rootlike Faith is a place for you. A place for us. A place to learn, think, listen, discuss, and grow. 

It is our deepest desire to encourage and equip men and women to be rooted in God’s Word, transformed by the love of Jesus, and moved by His mission, in the power of the Holy Spirit. 

Nothing is more important. 

With so many years of pastoral ministry, we’ve seen a little bit of it all. The good and the bad. And it motivates us. It stirs us to give our lives to what matters most. To what is possible.

An abundant life. A better life. A life rooted in Christ.

Being rooted, takes time and the help of others.  A rootlike faith is not a lonely faith. It is one planted in community. And we hope to be one of the places for you to continue to grow deep roots. Roots that nourish your faith, sharpen your mind, and soften your heart. Roots that produce fruit - a life that looks like Jesus’ life.

We’ll talk life, theology and everything in between. We’ll open our Bibles. Challenge you to think critically, and even counter-culturally. Why? Because it all matters. YOU matter. OUR lives matter. 

So, let’s press on together. Let’s learn to root our lives in the life of Christ!

Here’s a bit more about us!

Patrick Schwenk (D. Min Talbot School of Theology/Biola University) is a pastor of nearly twenty-five years and the co-author of For Better or For Kids: A Vow to Love Your Spouse with Kids in the House as well In a Boat in the Middle of a Lake: Trusting the God Who Meets Us in Our Storm. Ruth Schwenk is the founder of the popular blog, TheBetterMom.com, and along with Patrick, RootlikeFaith.com and FortheFamily.org. She is the trusted author of several books with Harper Collins Christian, including Settle My Soul, Pressing Pause, The Better Mom Book and Devotional.

Patrick and Ruth are Michigan football super fans, self-proclaimed “foodies,” and lovers of everything HGTV. They met while attending the Moody Bible Institute in Chicago and have been married for twenty-five years. They live with their four children, one hamster, two Pugs, and a loyal Labrador retriever in the Ann Arbor, Michigan area.
